Kate is currently Associate Vicar (PTO - Permission to Officiate) at St Nicholas Saltdean, Brighton. Kate trained at SEITE (now St Augustine’s) part-time and was ordained in 2014, as a self-supporting minister. Kate retired from the NHS, having worked in Public Health for forty years, when she began her curacy at All Saints Church in Hove. This was, unfortunately, mostly without a training incumbent as the Vicar left the same week that she was ordained Priest in 2015. The church was then in a vacancy for the next twenty-two months.

Kate became a hospital chaplain two days a week, at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, towards the end of her curacy, and also became a Spiritual Director. She was licenced to St Nicholas Saltdean in 2017, the parish where she has lived since 2011.

Kate has been a Quiet Garden host since 2016, at her home, Moray Cottage, and was very much encouraged by the movement’s founder, Philip Roderick, who also lived in Saltdean at the time. Her Quiet Garden went onto Zoom at the onset of Covid in March 2020. The decision was made to continue on Zoom monthly (and still is) as they have participants from all around the world, including the USA, Israel, Finland and many areas of England. Just over a year ago Kate, along with her ALM (Authorised Lay Minister), began hosting a monthly Quiet Garden at the Church.  Kate became Chair of Trustees of the Quiet Garden Movement in 2019 which will be celebrating their 35th Anniversary next June.
